The athletic training coverage at Cooper High School is provided by the Institute for Athletic Medicine (IAM), which is a service of Fairview Health Services and North Memorial Health Care. As an athletic trainer, I will evaluate and rehabilitate athletic injuries at Cooper High School. Any injuries that require advanced rehabilitation should be referred to physical therapy. We will discuss options if the situation arises. The IAM has over 20 clinics with extended hours to help meet the needs of our student athletes. The IAM’s physical therapists and certified athletic trainers are committed to the comprehensive care of musculoskeletal injuries. IAM’s programs include:
  • Free injury screening and evaluations for recreational and competitive athletes.
  • Specialized programs for runners, throwers, golfers, back injuries and a special program designed “For Women Only.”
  • 24 hour athletic medicine hotline for questions about sports-related injuries.
If you have any questions about these or any other programs, you may contact me.

The Cooper Athletic Training Room is located across from the locker rooms and athletic equipment room. The athletic training room hours are Monday – Friday:
Fall  2:00 – 5:30
Winter 2:00 – 5:00
Spring 2:00 – 4:00
The athletic training room will be open on Saturdays for event coverage only.

If you should have a question about an injury after hours, you may call the IAM’s Athletic Medicine Hotline at 952-920-8850. The hotline is staffed 24 hours a day by a certified and registered athletic trainer who can give you advice on any question you may have. This is a free service.

If you son/daughter is seen or treated by a doctor for an injury or serious illness, they MUST bring a written note from the doctor before they can return to practice or play in a game. This is a Minnesota State High School League Rule (Bylaw 107.00). This is for the student’s protection as well as to keep everyone informed as to the student’s readiness. If you forget a note, you can have the note faxed to me at 763-504-8686.
