    Apple is rumored to be spicing things for this Tuesday’s iPhone event. It could introduce an ultra-thin model for the 2025 iPhone lineup called the iPhone 17 Air. It’s thought to be much slimmer than any iPhone so far — and it will totally replace the Plus line that’s been around for over a decade.<\/p>\n

    Due this Sept.<\/a> alongside the rest of the iPhone 17 family<\/a>, it’s been repeatedly described as a super-slim new tier, with a target price around $900. But what else makes this phone so different, and why should you care? <\/p>\n

    Let’s go rumor by rumor.<\/p>\n

    1. It’s called iPhone 17 Air so far<\/h2>\n

    Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has described to the upcoming model<\/span><\/a><\/span> as “skinny” and repeatedly calls it<\/span><\/a><\/span> “iPhone 17 Air.” So, that’s what everyone else is calling it. Apple itself hasn’t confirmed the name, so consider “Air” a working moniker until it debuts in September. <\/p>\n

    With any pre-release reporting, details can change. But Gurman is a managing editor with a strong record on Apple scoops. AppleTrack currently rates his accuracy<\/span><\/a><\/span> around 86%. This is a site that meticulously tracks, verifies, and rates the accuracy of Apple’s biggest leaks and rumors. MacRumors even graded Gurman’s WWDC 2025 predictions with an A+<\/span><\/a><\/span>. <\/p>\n

    2. iPhone 17 Air is really, really thin<\/h2>\n

    If the rumors are true, the iPhone 17 Air could be the thinnest iPhone ever. <\/p>\n

    Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo<\/span><\/a><\/span>, who has a 72% accuracy according to AppleTrack<\/span><\/a><\/span>, says the phone will measure 5.5mm at its slimmest point — but the camera bump is still alive and well. Bloomberg’s Gurman<\/span><\/a><\/span> said the Air is slimmer than the current models and has suggested it could be a step toward Apple’s long-rumored port-free future. <\/p>\n
