Vishvasya – Blockchain Technology Stack, NBFLite, Praamaanik, and National Blockchain Portal also launched<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

National Blockchain Framework to enable security, trust and transparency for various citizen centric applications: Secretary, MeitY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a programme organized at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY launched the Vishvasya-Blockchain Technology<\/strong>\u00a0Stack<\/strong>\u00a0to offer Blockchain-as-a-Service with a geographically distributed infrastructure designed to support\u00a0 various permissioned Blockchain based applications.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Secretary, MeitY also unveiled the\u00a0NBFLite<\/strong>-Lightweight Blockchain Platform,\u00a0Praamaanik\u00a0<\/strong>– an innovative blockchain-enabled solution for verifying mobile app origin and\u00a0National Blockchain Portal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

National Blockchain Framework to Enhance Digital Trust and Service Delivery<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

MeitY, with the vision to create trusted digital platforms, initiated\u00a0National Blockchain Framework<\/strong>\u00a0(NBF)<\/strong>\u00a0for promoting research and application development; facilitating state of the art, transparent, secure and trusted digital service delivery to citizens.<\/p>\n

National Blockchain Framework technology stack is architected with Distributed Infrastructure, Core Framework functionality, Smart Contracts & API Gateway, Security, Privacy & Interoperability and Applications development offering Blockchain as a Service (BaaS). NBF currently supports\u00a0two permissioned Blockchain platforms<\/strong>\u00a0and is extensible. The Technology Stack is hosted on geographically distributed infrastructure at NIC Data\u00a0centers\u00a0i.e. Bhubaneswar, Pune, Hyderabad.<\/p>\n

Blockchain Sandbox for Startups and Academia<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

NBFLite<\/strong>, a\u00a0Blockchain sandbox platform, is\u00a0<\/strong>developed especially for startups\/academia\u00a0for\u00a0rapid prototyping of applications, carrying out research and capacity building.\u00a0These\u00a0technologies have been developed by collaborating efforts of C-DAC, NIC, IDRBT Hyderabad, IIT Hyderabad, IIIT Hyderabad and SETS Chennai under the MeitY support.<\/p>\n

National Blockchain Framework to Boost Security and Transparency for Citizens<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

During the launch, Shri S Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY expressed that as part of the efforts of Government of India for providing trusted digital service delivery,\u00a0the National Blockchain Framework would play an important role in\u00a0enabling security, trust and transparency<\/strong>\u00a0for various citizen centric applications. He also highlighted that the stakeholders should aim to position India as a global leader in blockchain technology and proliferate the developed solutions for Global adoption, leveraging it to drive economic growth, social development, and digital empowerment.<\/p>\n

Blockchain\u2019s Role in Transforming Governance<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bhuvnesh Kumar, Additional Secretary, MeitY,<\/strong> highlighted that the Blockchain technology holds immense potential for transforming governance in India<\/strong>\u00a0by making public services more transparent, efficient, and accountable. He stressed the need for scaling the applications on NBF across various states & departments and also suggested to explore onboarding new applications\/ platforms\/ innovative components\u00a0on the NBF\u00a0stack.<\/p>\n

NBF\u2019s Goals for Addressing Challenges<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Smt Sunita Verma, Scientist G and Group Coordinator, R&D in Electronics & IT, MeitY<\/strong> mentioned that the objective of initiating NBF is to develop an extensible framework with Blockchain technology stack on distributed infrastructure towards addressing the challenges such as need for skilled manpower towards building Blockchain based applications, vendor lock-in and research challenges related to security, interoperability, performance and other aspects.<\/p>\n

Magesh E, Director General, C-DAC,<\/strong> mentioned that the NBF is a consortium mode effort towards addressing research challenges and harnessing the benefits of the technology to develop applications in association with Government organizations. A number of patents and research publications are generated as part of this initiative.<\/p>\n
