This month, you can start your cyber security learning journey for free, thanks to TryHackMe.<\/span><\/p>\n

TryHackMe is a <\/span>cyber security training platform<\/span><\/a>, offering free pathways and a premium subscription for $10 a month. Training is suited to the complete beginner through to the seasoned hacker, with structured labs that reinforce skills in a real-world environment, with guided, gamified challenges.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Advent of Cyber<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Advent of Cyber<\/span><\/a> was launched by co-owners Ben Spring and Ashu Savani, to offer a fun, accessible way for beginners and experts alike to train and refresh their skills. The December event runs from the 1st to the 25th, and all previous training days are accessible post-launch so learners can check in at times that suit them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is the third recurring Advent of Cyber, with previous years amounting to 30,000 participants. TryHackMe is also offering prizes worth $19,000 across the month and features training days and content from key influencers in the cyber security space.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every day features written and video content, covering topics such as web exploitation, network exploitation, OSINT (open-source intelligence,) cloud hacking, and defensive training.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Actionable Cyber Security Training<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Anyone in-market (and just a little amount of research) will tell you of the huge pool of cyber security training available – from university courses through to online learning platforms and tutorials. Whilst there is credit due in most cases, learning through in-market, real-world scenarios often sets job seekers apart from candidates.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Brandon Prohaska, TryHackMe delved into how the budding college student was offered a job straight out of University – achieving the role of Enterprise Security Analyst.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI obtained a job in the cyber security career field right out of college. After four months of using TryHackMe and spending countless hours learning, the knowledge gap I had over my classmates was tremendous. I obtained an internship as an Enterprise Security Analyst for the summer I was graduating and endeavoured to showcase my skills enough that throughout the position, I would be offered a job. After just one month of working there, I was told that they were interested in offering me a position. After two months, I was offered a full-time position as an Enterprise Security Analyst, with my primary role being Threat Detection and part of the CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team).
