T<\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">he emergence of B2B start-ups as key revenue generating segment; maturing Agritech stakeholder <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">ecosystem; evolving public private partnerships; sustained growth for Agritech start-ups in India and <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">emerging business opportunities are some of the noteworthy findings being showcased in the report.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Growing at the rate of 25% year on year, India currently hosts more than 450 start-ups in the Agritech <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">sector. Over the recent years, the Agritech sector in India has witnessed some of the global and sector <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">focused funds directly investing in Agritech startups. According to the report, as of June 2019, the <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">sector has received more than USD 248 mn funding, a massive growth of 300% as compared to the <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">previous year. With the recent rise in funding, 48% Agritech CEOs, as per the NASSCOM Agritech CEO <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">survey, believe to have the next Agritech unicorn in coming 3 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Sharing her thoughts, Debjani Ghosh, President <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>NASSCOM, said,<\/strong> \u201cIndia&#8217;s agriculture sector is <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">advancing steadily towards its digital<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">transformation and the start-up ecosystem is <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">playing a critical role here, bringing innovation and <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">disruption in much-needed areas. Adoption of <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">technology in agriculture has always needed a <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">structured institutional focus and technology firms <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">are trying to break into the agricultural landscape <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">using newer business models. The findings of the <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">report are a testimony to the potential of the <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Agritech industry and the opportunities that India <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">presents in the agriculture and farming landscape.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">With more and more local farmers accepting the <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">innovative start-up solutions, there has been a <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">considerable shift witnessed from B2C to B2B startups. Corporates and investors are playing a vital role <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">in supporting this with over USD 200 mn investment in B2B start-ups in the past 18 months, making <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">it as a key revenue generating segments in the overall Agritech sector. According to the report in the last 5 <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">years, more than 5 global Agritech companies have ventured in India, as compared to more than 25<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Indian Agritech companies with global presence. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">New emerging areas like market linkage, digital agriculture, better access to inputs, FaaS and financing <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">are attracting large traction. These technology adoptions are enabling numerous agritech startups to <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">bring forth farming-related advanced technological mechanisms to help local farming become a <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">sustainable and profit-yielding enterprise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">With public private partnerships and government support, several Indian states have established <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">progressive Agritech policies. However, certain measures such as setting up of catalytic or micro funds <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">(ranging USD 2 to 14 mn ) to spur innovation, offer support in terms of incubation, acceleration, and <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">catalytic funding, opening of incubation centres, curriculum changes in agriculture universities, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">building of a transparent data sharing policy, and engaging with start-ups in larger projects, needs to <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">be implemented by state governments to further enhance the use of futuristic technologies and <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">support the growing Agritech sector in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Realizing the vision of make in India, for the world, it is estimated that by 2020 the Agritech sector to <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">be at the center-stage of innovation and will lead India&#8217;s journey towards overall transformation. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Therefore, to achieve this goal, it is imperative that the ecosystem needs to focus towards driving<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">innovation, data collaboration, easy working capital and providing digital infrastructure to enable real <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">time access to farmers across the country.
